Volunteer

Why volunteer?

Syddanske Studerende would be nothing without its many volunteers who do a fantastic job every day in our various projects and committees.

As a volunteer at Syddanske Studerende, you will build a strong network that can be used both professionally and socially. You'll make acquaintances that go far beyond your studies, and you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills and get something great on your CV.

What makes us different?

Our unique opportunities

Semesterstartsfesten

It takes more than 100 volunteers to organize Denmark's biggest semester start party. That's why we're always looking for volunteers who want to get involved. We are looking for both enthusiasts who are passionate about event planning and are willing to put in long hours, and people who just want to help on the day of the event. This includes tasks such as bartending, communication, HR, custodianship, hosting, setting up the site, atmosphere, wardrobe and much more.

Social activities

As a volunteer in Syddanske Studerende you get access to several social events. Among other things, we have our very own internal Christmas party and an award show called SDS Awards, where we pay tribute to the students who have made an extraordinary impact over the past year. In addition, we have a summer party, we have general meetings followed by a reception for the incoming and outgoing board. In addition, as part of the organizing groups for Semesterstartsfesten and Institutdysten, you can look forward to great parties and events just for them and the participating volunteers. The team behind all these events are our volunteers, whether they are related to SSF, Insti, come through our political or association network or just want to be part of the association because it's fun. Therefore, you can also become a volunteer in SDS if you would like to help plan and participate in these internal events and make a difference for your fellow students at the University of Southern Denmark.

Political activities

We are always looking for volunteers who are interested in educational politics and who want to help fight for student rights both locally at SDU and nationally in collaboration with the National Union of Students in Denmark (DSF). Syddanske Studerende works with student politics in the study boards, academic council, university council, university board and municipally. At the national level, we participate in DSF's political conferences, where we discuss students' views on political issues such as SU, housing, education quality, internationalization, financing, study environment, climate and much more.

Tinderbox

Through our collaboration with Tinderbox, we help ensure that students can attend the festival for free in exchange for volunteering. Therefore, we are looking for volunteers for Tinderbox. We will open up in the spring for registration. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for more information.

Institutdysten

It also takes a lot of volunteers to plan, set up and execute Institutdysten. It takes an organizing group that takes care of rules, scoring system, atmosphere planning, agreements and communication. It takes managers from various departments. It takes volunteers to set up and be in the bars. It takes gamemasters and referees to keep track of and organize the various competitions. So there are many dedicated students behind the execution of Institutdysten.

Student Fair

At the start of each semester in September, we hold a study start fair called Student Fair. It is traditionally held at the small canteen (old Friday bar) at SDU. A lot of relevant organizations, SDU departments and local companies that want to reach out to students come here. So if you would like to change banks, join an association like SDU Ski Club or volunteer at the Friday bar, or if you just want a tote bag and some sweets, drop by the Student Fair. You can become a volunteer in Syddanske Studerende and help execute Student Fair and stand in our stand and tell other students about our work.

Don't take it from us

''Being active in SDS broadens your horizons. We law students are not exactly known for being inclusive, but through Institutdysten - and the collaboration in the organization in general - I have been reminded of how rewarding a strong network can be. These pink and blue striped people have become my second family.''
Stina Starup
''I'm part of SDS because it gives me the opportunity to make an effort for my fellow students. It's important that we as students are heard in the various decisions that affect our student life. In addition to student politics, Syddanske Studerende is the perfect place to meet people from all kinds of studies across all faculties.”
Marius Folden Pedersen
“I'm in SDS because I think it's really important that students are as well-off as possible. I think we're in a pretty unique situation at SDU, where the students are listened to a fairly large extent, and it's great to be involved in working for that. In addition to that, I've made some really good friends across study areas and had some great experiences.”
